RESOLUTION 24-3411 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />SUBMISSION OF A SAFE STREETS AND ROADS FOR ALL PLANNING <br />AND DEMONSTRATION GRANT APPLICATION; PROVIDING FOR <br />CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry has set a goal to become the most walkable, rollable, <br />and bikeable City in Central Florida, where active transportation becomes a viable and routine <br />choice for daily mobility needs; and <br />WHEREAS, Vision Zero is a data -driven strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and <br />severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, and equitable mobility for all; and <br />WHEREAS, the City is working to develop a Vision Zero Action Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the City is also working to create a new transportation master plan referred to <br />as the Mobility and Access Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the United States Department of Transportation has released a Notice of <br />Funding Opportunity for Planning and Demonstration Grants under the Safe Streets and Roads for <br />All (SS4A) Grant Program; and <br />WHEREAS, City staff has identified potential planning and demonstration activities that <br />will further the City's efforts to achieve a safer and more equitable transportation system; and <br />WHEREAS, the City recognizes the opportunity to leverage local funds to achieve needed <br />planning and demonstration activities through the SS4A Grant Program. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby approves and <br />authorizes the submission of a Safe Streets and Roads for All Planning and Demonstration Grant in <br />the amount up to $1,500,000, consisting of federal funds up to $1,200,000 and local match up to <br />$300,000, and authorizes the City Manager to execute required application documents as needed on <br />behalf of the City. <br />SECTION II. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the <br />provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION III. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution <br />proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the <br />validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution. <br />
