RESOLUTION 20-3154 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE 2020-2025 LOCAL <br />MITIGATION STRATEGY FOR SEMINOLE COUNTY AND ITS LOCAL <br />MUNICIPALITIES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, <br />AND EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, via Resolution 98-1137, the City Commission approved City participation <br />with Seminole County and other municipalities to develop a strategic plan to prioritize mitigation <br />initiatives and projects in order to receive consideration of grant and disaster funding from the <br />Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency <br />(FEMA); and <br />WHEREAS, this Local Mitigation Strategy assists the City, Seminole County, and the other <br />municipalities with becoming more disaster resistant; and <br />WHEREAS, in August of 2000, the City Commission approved the initial Local Mitigation <br />Strategy which provided for City participation for five years; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted updates to the Local Mitigation Strategy, via <br />Resolution 04-1488 in March 2004, Resolution 10-2148 in June 2010, and Resolution 15-2742 in <br />June 2015; and <br />WHEREAS, adoption of the updated Local Mitigation Strategy will provide for an <br />additional five-year period (2020-2025) for continued participation for prioritizing mitigation <br />initiatives and/or projects which are part of the plan; and <br />WHEREAS, City staff has reviewed the update to the Local Mitigation Strategy submitted <br />by Seminole County and finds it favorable to the City. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby adopts the attached <br />2020-2025 Local Mitigation Strategy for Seminole County and its municipalities. <br />SECTION II. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the <br />provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION III. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution <br />proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the <br />validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution. <br />SECTION IV. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon <br />its passage and adoption. <br />
