<br />RESOLUTION NO. 06-1661 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, <br />FLORIDA, RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION PLANNING AND ENGINEERING; <br />PROVIDING FINDINGS; PROVIDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES RELATIVE TO <br />THE DESIGN OF THE PROPOSED US 17-92 I SR 436 OVERPASS; ENDORSING <br />THE RETAINING OF PROFESSIONAL TRANSPORTATION AND LOBBYING <br />EXPERTISE TO ASSIST THE CITY IN IDENTIFYING WORKABLE <br />ALTERNATIVE DESIGNS AND OBTAIN FUNDS TO PAY FOR ALTERNATIVE <br />DESIGNS; AND PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY AND AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation has started the preliminary engineering <br />process to develop a grade separated interchange at the US 17-92 I SR 436 intersection that will result in the <br />construction of a major interchange at that intersection within the Casselberry City limits; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the interchange is not yet in the final design stage nor is it funded; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Casselberry City Commission that the proposed US 17-92 I SR <br />436 interchange contribute positively to the image, economy and local pedestrian and vehicular access in the <br />vicinity of the interchange; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Casselberry City Commission to take all necessary steps to <br />improve the economic base of the City for the general benefit of the citizens and businesses in Casselberry. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section I. The City Commission finds that the above whereas clauses are all true and correct and is willing to <br />take reasonable steps to address the potential issues arising from the design of the US 17-92 I SR 436 <br />interchange including any negative impacts on the health, safety and welfare of the citizens and businesses in <br />the City of Casselberry. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Commission hereby directs the City Manager to take the necessary steps to direct the <br />efforts of the City staff to coordinate a review of the US 17-92 I SR 436 interchange with the objective of <br />improving the design to address and improve the local economy, the traffic impacts and the visual appearance <br />of the interchange. <br /> <br />Section 3. The City Commission approves a conceptual budget of $250,000 to retain the services of a <br />professional traffic planning/engineering consultant and legislative lobbyist, as necessary, to achieve the goals <br />set forth herein. <br /> <br />Section 4. Conflicts. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with any ofthe provisions of this <br />resolution are hereby repealed. <br />
