RESOLUTION 19-3085-B A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, TO ENTER INTO A MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT TO EXTEND AND RECEIVE WATER/WASTEWATER EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE DURING NATURAL OR MAN-MADE DISASTERS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City owns and operates a water and wastewater utility that is responsible for providing clean drinking water and an effective wastewater collection system to its customers at all times; and WHEREAS, emergency situations, such as hurricanes, can cause an extra strain on the utility by causing power outages, equipment malfunctions, and infrastructure failures; and WHEREAS, the Mutual Aid Agreement provides a method for water/wastewater utilities to obtain emergency assistance during natural or man-made disasters; and WHEREAS, the Florida Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (FIaWARN) is a formalized system of utilities that provides assistance to participating utilities to address mutual aid requests received in accordance with the Mutual Aid Agreement; and WHEREAS, Public Works staff desires to participate in the FIaWARN and be a party to the Mutual Aid Agreement; and WHEREAS, Public Works staff has reviewed the agreement and finds it reasonable to meet the needs of the City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby approves the Mutual Aid Agreement for Water/Wastewater (attached) to extend and receive emergency assistance during natural or man-made disasters and authorizes the Mayor to execute said document on behalf of the City. SECTION II. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. SECTION III. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution.
