RESOLUTION 19-3085-B <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, TO ENTER INTO A MUTUAL AID <br />AGREEMENT TO EXTEND AND RECEIVE WATER/WASTEWATER <br />EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE DURING NATURAL OR MAN-MADE <br />DISASTERS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City owns and operates a water and wastewater utility that is responsible <br />for providing clean drinking water and an effective wastewater collection system to its customers at <br />all times; and <br />WHEREAS, emergency situations, such as hurricanes, can cause an extra strain on the <br />utility by causing power outages, equipment malfunctions, and infrastructure failures; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mutual Aid Agreement provides a method for water/wastewater utilities <br />to obtain emergency assistance during natural or man-made disasters; and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (FIaWARN) is a <br />formalized system of utilities that provides assistance to participating utilities to address mutual aid <br />requests received in accordance with the Mutual Aid Agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, Public Works staff desires to participate in the FIaWARN and be a party to <br />the Mutual Aid Agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, Public Works staff has reviewed the agreement and finds it reasonable to <br />meet the needs of the City. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby approves the Mutual <br />Aid Agreement for Water/Wastewater (attached) to extend and receive emergency assistance during <br />natural or man-made disasters and authorizes the Mayor to execute said document on behalf of the <br />City. <br />SECTION II. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the <br />provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION III. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution <br />proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the <br />validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution. <br />
