RESOLUTION 14 -2562 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE AWARD OF INVITATION FOR BID #Y14 -0001 TO CALGON CARBON CORPORATION FOR THE GRANULAR ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER VESSELS AND MEDIA FOR THE SOUTH WATER TREATMENT PLANT PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the potable water system surrounding the South Water Treatment Plant has historically had higher disinfection byproducts that other parts of the distribution system, and WHEREAS, on June 25, 2012, the City Commission approved a pilot study which positively proved the effectiveness of using granular activated carbon; and WHEREAS, the design of the required GAC improvements at the South Water Treatment Plant has been completed by Reiss Engineering and construction of the project has been awarded to Wharton - Smith, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the City received bids for the granular activated carbon vessels and initial carbon media equipment and materials on December 9, 2013 and Calgon Carbon Corporation provided the lowest bid in the amount of $817,210; and WHEREAS, Public Works staff has reviewed the bid from Calgon Carbon Corporation and finds it favorable to the City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby approves the award of Invitation For Bid #Y -14 -0001 to Calgon Carbon Corporation for an amount not to exceed $817,210. SECTION II. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. SECTION III. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution. SECTION IV. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
